Study Support ‘Clever stuff’ is an Out of School Hours project working with children and young people aged 5 to 16 on Computers, Art and Craft, Digital Photography, Out door projects and Numerous other interests.
We involved in Study Support, encourage Family Learning and provide opportunities for parents, carers, children and young people to work together.
‘Study Support’ is an inclusive project, delivered in a safe and comfortable environment, welcoming all abilities, aiming to improve confidence and self-esteem, incorporating the National Curriculum in a fun way. We are a team of fully trained workers. A senior and assistant worker supports each site and plan activities along side link staff from each school.
The project works in close partnership with the LEA and the BMBC Learning Centre Network on borough wide topics including, UFA (University of the First Age) which incorporates Barnsley’s ‘Remaking Barnsley – Remaking Learning Action Plan, ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) awarding young people accreditation for participation in and out of School Activities. The project also involves younger people (8 to 11) in the ‘Learning Centre Networks First Steps Challenge Awards’. These awards have a trade in value towards ASDAN accreditation.
By giving young people ownership of the Study Support programme we hope to help improve the confidence and self-esteem of the young people who attend the sessions. This in turn will raise their expectations and abilities in both their school and social lives, thus helping to raise their academic achievement.
